Finding hope beyond the hurt

There are millions of people--many of them teenagers and young adults--who are emotionally wounded and scarred. Some of them have grown up in families devastated by alcohol or drug addiction, abuse of many kinds and other traumas. The very idea of "family" is for them a source of hurt and confusion, rather than a source of warmth and security. This video includes interviews with people who have suffered the pain of dysfunctional family life--and it includes the wisdom of professional counselors who help people untangle their current confusion from a devastating past. Your students will learn how to find hope beyond the hurt--and how to deal constructively with the past in order to build a healthy and positive future.

Teachers tell us:
"Good movie to back up the idea that not all homes are perfect but the cycle must stop somewhere." - Family Consumer Science Teacher, Montana
"Thought it was very good in identifying what dysfunctional families are and ways to help." - FCS Teacher, Georgia
