Finding reconciliation

On a majestic 58-foot sailboat, the lives of three fathers and three sons are forever changed in this true story of reconciliation. Set amid beautiful vistas and the violent storms of a sailing trip along the West Coast, this full-length documentary charts the story of fathers and sons who have lost each other in the busyness of their day-to-day duties. Brought together in close living and working conditions aboard the sailboat, the fathers and sons face the prospect of being capsized both by the angry waves of the ocean around them--and the billowing emotional storms within. To survive, each must look within, as well as without, relying on relationships with others. Your students will see clearly the factors that cause family relationships to fail--and those factors that restore and rebuild fractured relationships. Father/Son is an epic journey into the nature of family relationships.

Teachers tell us:
"I agreed with feelings of students. They are, of course, very perceptive. I hope some of these things will make them better parents when they are adults." - 7th Grade Teacher, Georgia
"I thought the video was well put together--interesting--addresses the real problems." - 7th Grade Teacher, Minnesota
"Several of my students have an environment like the video. They were the ones to watch the video carefully. Hopefully this message sinks in and helps their relationships at home." - Special Ed Teacher, West Virginia

Student reactions:
"Pretty much caught and held students attention. For the most part, they enjoyed it."
"Most of these students seemed to be interested and asked questions about the video."
