Confronting
teen suicide

The
once-taboo topic of teen suicide is treated with care and sensitivity
in this dramatic video. Jenny has taken her life, leaving those
who loved her with many more questions than answers. Her parents
are devastated. Her friends cannot understand how anyone could be
so depressed they failed to see a way out of that despair. Jenny's
death is most difficult to accept for her boyfriend, Matt, who is
carrying the burden of a secret of his own. This video will provide
encouragement for troubled teens to seek help--to talk about their
secret pain with a friend, a parent, a teacher or a spiritual counselor.
The life that is saved might be one of your students. The video
includes an epilogue with contemporary recording artist Julie Miller,
who will help your students launch into a meaningful discussion.
Teachers
tell us:

teach an ethics class --we've just completed a unit which included
a segment on teen suicide. This was a great resource for me." -
Ethics Teacher, Michigan
"Gave
insight to problems many students share that causes them to consider
suicide and a look at an alternative." - Teacher, Florida
Student
reactions:
"I have
been thinking about suicide, but this made me realize that it is
not the way to go."
"Students
liked the process of how others are affected by the suicide and
how to handle or where to find help."
"'I've
felt like that sometimes.' 'I've had thoughts like that.' 'Sometimes
my parents make me feel like this,' were some of their comments."
